The Samsung Focus is one of the first Windows Mobile 7 devices. It has a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, 8GB memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless networking, GPS and a 5.0 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and LED flash.
BUILDING & DESIGN
The Focus is a great phone, much larger than the Motorola Defy that I recently reviewed here at Brighthand. It measures 4.84 inches high, wide, 2.56 inches, and 0.39-inch thick. The before the Focus is black, with chrome band around the top and on both sides of the phone Wraps. The back has a striped platinum finish.
The main material is plastic, and the surfaces are all in very smooth indeed. I did not pick up the phone fixed, I fall from the hand to hold. It is also trying a little uncomfortable for me, one hand operation, so I tend to keep to it in one hand and interact with the other hand, to the device. The phone will fit in the pocket of my pants, even though it makes a significant bulge because of its size. I suspect that most women, especially the wearing professional clothes are elegant, find that they prefer to keep the focus in her purse or briefcase; guys should not have the same problem.
Display
The 4-inch AMOLED display is simply amazing and makes me that the withdrawal of all praise I bestowed on other phones I’ve reviewed. It is not the slightest hint of pixel errors, no matter how closely I examine the screen. The only rub I can see on the screen is on the edge of some of the active panel on the startup screen appears and that more of design than an actual limitation of the screen.

Keyboard
The Samsung Focus not on a physical keyboard, so you will be using a virtual on-screen. And while the keyboard itself is not my all-time favorite, it is not bad. Even after practicing a bit, I have to look at my hands to make sure I have entered the correct letters, but it’s OK. This is mainly due to the fact that the word completion utility for Windows Mobile 7 works so well that I actually use – and this is a first for me, as word completion is usually the first function that I turn off when I get a new device.
There is a separate smiley button that opens up a list of different emoticons to choose to improve your messages and texts. You are not animate, as on Android phones, but I have fun with them and I am glad that have the function – so I try not to and I remember how to bring about the typical smile.
Other buttons & Controls
believe at first glance may not be that there are any buttons on the Focus, but they are there – just hidden from sight. The charge sync and headphone jacks are on the top, with the power button and the camera button on the right side of the phone. The volume buttons are on the left. The only other buttons are three touch-sensitive surface directly below the screen. From left to right they are back home, and searching. While the device certainly looks lean no obvious buttons, it would be nice if the buttons under the display in any way mark, so it would be easier to find when you try to work the phone with one hand.
PERFORMANCE
The Samsung Focus is my first experience with Windows Mobile 7, and the phone in my experience a pleasant one. Although I was not familiar with the new operating system, I felt at home very quickly. Of course I had in every little corner of each menu stuck to me quickly get acquainted, and the focus was to keep up with my every touch and application launch. The only time I had to wait to complete a task were when I first had the unit and for all my personal data to be synchronized have to wait.

Wireless/ Call Quality
The quality is good but not overwhelming, a critic friend of mine has the Focus, a B + when it comes to quality call. I had no problems hearing or being heard, but the fidelity was just not all there. This could be due to active noise reduction, as my test callers could not hear any noise at all in the background during our conversation, even if I stood outside in the middle of a busy parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised by the signal strength surprised even in my office when I had only one bar, I was still able to make and receive calls. Because I know that my office is basically a dead zone that an item is in favor of the Focus. Microsoft has a long list of hardware requirements for appliances with the new operating system, and this is 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Camera
The 5-megapixel camera has autofocus and an LED flash light. It can be a little slow to capture the picture while you are waiting to focus on them, but the payoff is in improved results for each image. The photos I could have survived with a Focus some of the best I’ve ever been in a position with a cell phone camera to achieve, and that includes both macro and zoom shots.
Of course there is some loss of detail and quality on enlarged photographs, but they still look good enough to share, and that’s better than passing shot because you do not get close enough. Low-resolution versions of the photos are automatically SkyDrive, where they can be shared with friends or uploaded archives only for their own use. You can also optionally geotagged know if you know where each shot was taken, you know that even your photos via e-mail or can upload it to Facebook with captions if you want to share photos in full size.
Battery Life
I really have very good results on the power front – I never had a low battery warning on the Focus, even though I only be charged it every two or three days, and I got the phone heavily for calling, SMS, and ( especially) games. Maybe you can get away without the charger on a weekend trip, but even better, you need not fear running out of juice when you surf the Web while you have the evening commute home.

CONCLUSION
The Samsung Focus is a winner in almost every category. Although it is a bit larger than I would personally like (I prefer more pocketable phones with the ginormous cinematic displays), so I like pretty much everything about it. The display is really beautiful, the phone is quick and responsive to my every whim, and the battery life is great. The external speaker is something of a disappointment, but apart from that the Samsung Focus is an excellent choice if you need on the market for a Windows Mobile 7 device.
