AT & T’s version of the Samsung S Galaxy has finally been released. Called the Samsung Captivate it is easily the most powerful institution Android device.
Physically, the handset sports a rather industrial design. If you can behind the cover if you appreciate the hefty hardware, claimed in a rather slim 0.39-inch frame to slide, managed (barely) in most of the front pockets. Construction actually seems very stable compared to other phones Galaxy S now. The 4-inch AMOLED capacitive Super Display (840 x 480 resolution) provides magnificent, with a rare brilliance and sharpness seen in many smartphones. Plus the touch screen is responsive and above all.
As the Captivate phone offers great-sounding calls, with clear sound and rich voices. Those at the other end reported the same, although they were easily identifiable, we talk on a cell phone. Speakerphone has a hollow sound, but it was also used in noisy environments. Battery life is rated at almost six hours. From our tests, most users will probably have to charge every night or so.

This is not only the most powerful Android phone on AT & T’s roster, there is also the feature-packed. Besides the usual phone functions, it is also a quad-band mobile phone world, with a range of advanced voice services. It also inherits Android 2.1 ‘s messaging strengths, with support for Instant Messaging, Exchange, and several social networking sites. Plus, there are single inbox, calendar, automatic backup of your address book to AT & T servers.
Browser supports tabbed browsing and Flash Lite, what a nice time surfing. Data transfer speeds are fantastic and the telephone leads up to speed, easy-to-YouTube videos play without a hint of buffers (after a few seconds loading). We love this as a multimedia phone, hiss through every video we loaded handy, plays it with astonishing quality. Music quality is there with the best too. Plus, it’s MobiTV and future support for Samsung got a media hub.

Apart from Google’s standard suite of applications, it comes with a number of others, including writing and Go (a notepad/messaging, APP), mobile banking, and where the whole scale of AT & T-specific services. The 5.0-megapixel camera took decent shots – nothing better than what is expected, though. Unfortunately, there’s no flash.
If you are an Android phone from AT & T, then the Samsung Captivate is as good as you, right now. There really is nothing better, unless you are good with an average quality, high-res camera and no Wi-Fi hotspot tethering support.
